The Amarillo Police Department and Crime Stoppers’ weekly fugitive has been captured in Nebraska after a tip led police to believe he had moved to Omaha.
Nicholas Bershard Gray was arrested on Friday afternoon in Omaha for two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child after APD developed information that gave credibility to a tip they received following an alert was sent out Thursday.
APD worked with several other law enforcement agencies to arrest Gray, including the U.S. Marshall’s Office. According to APD reports, Gray tried to escape on foot before he was detained.
“We applaud the work of our law enforcement’s efforts, both near and far, who worked tirelessly to bring this fugitive to justice with the assistance of an anonymous tipster’s information,” APD Corporal Sean Slover said in a release about Gray’s capture.
Gray will be booked at a local detention center in Nebraska for his warrants.
