River Road girls fall to Shallowater in playoffs, 48-39

One of the best seasons in recent history came to an end for the River Road Lady Wildcats on Monday night because they didn’t have one of their better shooting nights.

River Road couldn’t quite find the range early and played catch-up the rest of the way in falling to Shallowater 48-39 in a Class 3A bidistrict game at Dimmitt.

The Lady Wildcats (24-9) played solid enough defense to stay in the game but struggled shooting the ball, as evidenced by falling behind 10-5 in the first quarter. They missed several medium range shots that made the difference.

“I knew going into it that we were going to have to hit at elast six or seven 3-pointers to have a shot at beating (Shallowater) and we only hit four,” River Road coach Ricky Guy said.

Scout Welps led River Road with 13 points while Cierra Kiser added 11. Tailyn Creckel had a game-high 17 for Shallowater (26-5).
