The Department of Justice visited Canyon Independent School District last week to “gather information regarding district procedures,” the district said in a statement.
The visit was related to “an open records request about a complaint that originated over two years ago,” the statement said.
Details remained scarce Friday, and the scope and intent of the federal agency’s inquiry was not fully clear.
A Canyon ISD spokeswoman declined to discuss the specifics of the investigation but did say the agency spent all day Wednesday and half the day Thursday at the district.
The Justice Department declined to comment.
