Denver City ISD places employee on leave after allegations of improper relationship

LUBBOCK — Denver City Independent School District has placed an employee on administrative leave and started an investigation after discovering information the employee may have engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to a statement from the district superintendent on Wednesday.

Denver City ISD Superintendent Gary Davis said the alleged misconduct has also been reported to law enforcement and to the Texas Education Agency.

The district did not identify the employee or elaborate on the nature of the alleged behavior pending an ongoing investigation.

Davis said the district will cooperate with state and local authorities and will coordinate its own investigation with them.

Denver City is about 80 miles southwest of Lubbock.
