Driver who fled crash scene apprehended by police

A male driver in a Cadillac Escalade that crashed into two other vehicles Wednesday night fled the scene but was apprehended by Amarillo Police officers a short time later, according to an APD news release.

At 9:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to a collision involving three vehicles at West Amarillo Boulevard and North McMasters Street. The driver of a 2012 Escalade heading north on McMasters “at a high rate of speed” struck a 1999 Chevy truck and then careened into a 2014 Lexus sedan, the release stated.

The driver of the Escalade left the scene on foot. After being caught, he was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The other drivers were uninjured in the crash, the APD stated.

Speed and narcotics were factors in the wreck, according to APD in the release, and no arrests have been made, and no citations have been issued “at this time.” The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the incident, according to the APD.
