The Texas Department of Public Safety seized nearly 114 pounds of marijuana Sunday after a traffic stop in Carson County, according to a news release.
At approximately 1:34 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup towing a flatbed trailer traveling east on Interstate 40 near Conway for an unspecified traffic violation, DPS said. The trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in a false floor compartment on the trailer. The illegal drugs are worth approximately $691,000, according to DPS.
The driver, Cha Vang of St. Paul, Minn., was arrested on a charge of felony possession of marijuana. Vang, 40, was booked into the Carson County jail.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from Bakersfield, Calif., to Oklahoma City, according to DPS.
