League of Women Voters distributes voters guides

Members of the League of Women Voters have been distributing about 6,000 free voters guides for the March 6 primary election in Amarillo and Canyon.


In Amarillo, Voters Guides are available at Amarillo Public Library branches; Amarillo downtown banks plus the Herring Bank and FirstBank Southwest; Potter County Courthouse; the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce; Randall County annex; City Hall; Education Credit Union branches; United Supermarkets; Cash Saver; Eat-Rite Health Food Restaurant; Roasters Coffee & Tea shops; Amarillo Senior Citizens Center; Wesley Community Center; Hilltop Senior Citizens Center; Black Historical Culture Center, and several assisted living facilities. Amarillo College locations with guides are the College Union Building on the Washington Street campus and the auditorium lobby on AC’s west campus.

In Canyon, guide locations include the Canyon Area Public Library; the West Texas A&M University Library and Student Union; the Canyon Independent School District administration building; United Supermarket; Education Credit Union; the Canyon News office; Wells Fargo Bank; Happy State Bank, and the Election Administrator’s office in the Randall County Financial Center.

Early voting begins Feb. 20 and continues through March 2. Voters are encouraged to save their copy of the guide in case of a runoff election on May 22.

The League is a nonpartisan organization that encourages all citizens to take an informed, active part in their government and its political processes.

The 24-page nonpartisan guide, published jointly by the LWV of Texas Education Fund and the Amarillo LWV, contains answers to questions by Democrat and Republican candidates in contested races, including statewide candidates and 25 local Potter and Randall County candidates.

Candidates unopposed in the Primary are also listed. Early voting dates, times and locations are listed, as well as vote center locations for both counties on Election Day.
