Regarding the recent letter to the editor in Amarillo Globe-News (Letter: Kneeling NFL players speak for us all, Oct. 8, amarillo.com) who are “us all?”
Kneeling NFL players definitely do not speak for me. I stand at attention, right hand over my heart, when viewing the American flag (often with tears in my eyes.) And I stand and join and sing “The Star Spangled Banner.”
I know the words, unlike many NFL players, who try to “mouth” the words — sometimes incorrectly. Even if I didn’t feel the emotion in my heart, I would do this out of respect, especially for all those in America’s military who have served, died or have been maimed while defending the freedoms of myself and my family.
God bless them, and God bless America.
