Letter: It is time we hear some of the good stuff

I am an 87-year-old lady who was shopping in a Dollar General in Amarillo recently for several items.

As I was rolling the basket around the store, everyone was very nice.

When I went to check out, several younger men and women had one or two items, so I let them go ahead of me. Chatting (as I’m prone to do), we remarked that there are still some nice people in our world; we just don’t hear about them.

When I checked out, my bill was $26.49.

I was getting my credit card out, the sweet cashier said, “Don’t worry about your bill. That young man just left $30 to cover your bill.”

Needless to say, I cried.

Thank you, young man. I will try to pay it forward. (The cashier also gave me the change.)

Thank you — you made my day, my week, my month and my year. You are blessed.

We hear the bad stuff. I wanted to share the good stuff.
