Sherwin Cox: The longtime Amarillo legendary golf pro at Ross Roger Golf Complex, the man who changed the local golf scene into statewide respect, turned in his resignation Monday. Sherwin, you will be missed my friend. I’ll have more on this in an upcoming story.
Canyon football team: Before Canyon took the field last weekend for their District 3-5A win over Caprock the Eagles and their coaches dedicated the game in honor of Debbie Crenshaw and Tatum Schulte. The funerals for Canyon High teacher/coach Debbie and young Tatum were held last week, both passing away do to cancer. Canyon coach Blake Bryant said the classy, respectful and strong way the two families of Debbie and Tatum handled the services were motivation for his team.
Lauren Piercy: The former Randall High soccer star and Happy State Bank Girls Athlete of the Year had quite a moment in the sun last weekend. Piercy scored the winning goal in overtime for Baylor in the Big 12 women’s soccer championship. Anybody who has seen the high-energy Piercy play isn’t surprised she made this clutch goal.
Amarillo Bulls: In the Bulls first jersey auction of the year $21,000 was raised for America Celebrate, Honor and Serve. Amazing contribution for one night.
Radio show: Can’t thank the callers enough for making my first seven days of radio a real joy. If you get some time give me a listen and call in and let’s talk sports on “The Sports Drive” between 5-6 p.m. daily on KGNC (710 FM and 97.5 FM).
Kliff Kingsbury: Go out swinging, man. Don’t call a run in the middle of the line with the game tied and 42 seconds remaining. Throw it down field.
Deion Sanders and Tony Romo: Play nice former Cowboys.
