Fifteen years ago almost to the day, Perryton shut out Canyon in the second half using that defense to pull out a 25-13 win and claim the District 1-3A championship. Perryton’s Keith Potts ran for a game-high 135 yards, while quarterback Caleb Campbell (an NFL draft pick of the Detroit Lions) ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns. … Randall routed Dumas 40-10 claiming the District 3-4A title with running back Kiel Anderson and quarterback Jeremy Lunsford providing the offensive punch. Anderson ran for 124 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown, while Lunsford completed 7-of-11 passes for 173 yards. Lunsford found Cory Low on an 82-yard pass for the first TD of the game. … Panhandle coached by David Sparkman ended a playoff drought dating back to 1996, overcoming a 14-0 deficit in the first half to beat Sanford-Fritch 28-14. Panhandle claimed the District 6-2A championship, its first title since 1995, with Brock Sherwood throwing for two touchdowns and Erik Vance and Tyler Smith scoring on TD runs. Fritch’s Austin Schneider ran for game-high 140 yards and scored twice in the first half. … Aaron Taylor rushed for 121 yards and scored three touchdowns leading Wellington to a 48-14 District 3-1A win and a 5-0 district mark heading into the playoffs. … Nazareth won the District 4-1A crown with a 33-14 win over Springlake-Earth with quarterback Jordy Rowland accounting for 332 yards off offense and three touchdowns. … John Braddock threw three touchdown passes and led Pampa to 51 first-half points in a 58-0 win over Caprock clinching the No. 2 seed in District 3-4A. Ryan Zemanek, Johnny Klaus and Jesse Tarango caught the three TD passes, while Johnny Moore added two TD runs in the opening half.
