Canyon, Dumas and Hereford will be moving down a class when the University Interscholastic League 2018-2020 district realignment is released in February.
The trio of schools will move from Class 5A to Class 4A Division I highlighting a shift throughout the Texas Panhandle from cutoff numbers announed Wednesday by the UIL.
Canyon, Dumas and Hereford will compete in Class 4A Division I football while the other program’s will compete at the Class 4A level.
Other notable Amarillo-area changes include:
Bushland moving from Class 4A Division II to Class 3A Division I
Borger from Class 4A Division I to Class 4A Division II
Friona is dropping from Class 3A Division I into Class 3A Division II
Highland Park moves from Class 3A Division II to Class 2A Division I
Stratford falls from Class 2A Division I to Class 2A Division II
Valley (Six-man) moves up to Class 1A Division I from Class 1A Division II
