The Amarillo Bulls got off to a tough start in their two-game road trip to Shreveport, La. on Saturday with a 6-1 loss to the Mudbugs at George’s Pond Hirsch Coliseum.
The struggling Bulls (11-10-4-2, 28 points), have only won once in their last five tries and have lost three straight to North America Hockey League South Division leader Shreveport (21-5-2-2, 46 points). Amarillo still has one more chance to get points against the Mudbugs at 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
Shreveport got the scoring started with about 3:50 to play in the first period on the stick of Jay Feiwell. After a second Mudbug goal in the second by Dominik Procopio, Aaron Swanson found the net to get the Bulls on the board 14 minutes into the second.
From there the Mudbugs took control. One more goal in the second by Jacob Holmers, followed with three goals in the third, two by Ryan Burnett, put Amarillo away.
Sunday’s series finale can be heard on CBS Sports Radio 1440 and amarillobulls.com.
