Lahnert: My 2 cents

Thumbs Up

Childress and Greenbelt Bowl: The new turf on the football field at Fair Park Stadium has the place looking amazing and should be a playoff destination for many games. I must say what a cool scene it was seeing former Bobcat coach Charlie Johnston pacing the sidelines again coaching the North squad in the Greenbelt Bowl on the new turf. What I really appreciated was the respect shown toward Johnston by North coach Jason Sims, his staff and players.

Father’s Day on Sunday: RIP dad. I still miss ya.

Father’s Day on Sunday II: If you have a dad to enjoy today step your game up and do something special for him Sunday.

Dalton Rigdon: Had a chance to visit with the recent Perryton graduate at the Greenbelt Bowl where he deservedly was named MVP. Rigdon is headed to Texas Tech for football and track. It want be easy for him to do both, but keep an eye on him. He has passion like I’ve rarely seen and is an easy guy to root for.

NBA Finals: I enjoyed the final game and love the ski goggles worn by the players in the winning locker room.

Jonathan Polasek: That was a quick stint at KVII (Ch. 7) as weekend sports guy, but good job. I wish you well in whatever it is you decide to do.

Thumbs Down

Kevin Durant haters: I don’t see why Durant is still getting so much flak over making the move from Oklahoma City to Golden State. This is nothing new. So many great players over the years have switched team to try and win championships like with Kareem Abdul Jabar going from Milwaukee to the Lakers in the mid 1970s. Give this is discussion a rest. It’s old and tired.
