That Super Bowl: I was way off on my prediction of the Philadelphia Eagles winning Super Bowl 52, but the game itself was up with the best I’ve ever seen. And yes, I’m old having watched the first Super Bowl on Zenith black and white TV with rabbit ears. I’m a Nick Foles fan after seeing the him lead Philly to a 41-33 win over Tom Brady’s Pats.
Bonham and Travis 8th graders: I found my way to the Amarillo city 8th grade Gold boys basketball city championship game last weekend and let me tell ya that was an eye opener. I saw some serious talent on the floor with Bonham winning the game. I know a lot changes on a student from their 8th grade to senior years, but if these kids keep up the hard work and don’t get the big head, that’s a bright, bright future ahead for Amarillo city hoops.
Tech Tech men’s hoops: No. 7 in the nation? If Tech coach Chris Beard isn’t national coach of the year then those voting should never be allowed to vote again.
Ricky Guy: Congrats to the big guy over at River Road for winning his 500th game Tuesday night. Guy had a heart transplant a few years back and I’m not sure I’ve met a man in my recent years who is more thankful for life. Congrats, Ricky.
Chris Albracht: Congrats to the voice of the Bulls and Randall High hoops (“The House of Doom!”_ on his Eagles winning a Super Bowl. Not sure how a kid growing up in Nazareth becomes a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan, but Albracht has always an Eagles fan through thick and thin.
Justin Timberlake: Seriously, what was this guy wearing during his halftime show at the Super Bowl? Camo pants and a deer on his shirt? The show was legit his style something out of Bass Pro Shops.
Catch or no catch?: If I hear this phrase again during an NFL game I’m going to scream. Why is this so hard for the NFL to get right? This wasn’t an issue until recently. It’s simple. When you and I watch a game we just know if it’s a catch or not. Let’s make that the rule.
