WT starts LSC tournament with Kingsville

The Lone Star Conference volleyball championship tournament is set to get underway Thursday in Stephenville.

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs are the No. 5-seed and will face the No. 4-seed Texas A&M-Kingsville at 5 p.m. Thursday.

A win for WT (20-12, 12-8 LSC) against the Javelinas (21-11, 13-7) will be a big step towards earning a spot in the South Central Region playoff bracket.

“Our conference has six or seven of the top 10 regionally ranked teams,” WT head coach Jason Skoch said. “So us playing Kingsville, thats eight versus nine, that would be beating a top 10 regionally ranked team on our resume.”

The winner will go on to face either host school and top-seed Tarleton State or Eastern New Mexico at 7:30 p.m. in Friday’s semifinals.
