Lady Buffs sneak past Regis

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs snuck away with a 58-53 win at Regis, Colo. on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Lady Buffs finish off the weekend at 2-0 after beating UC-Colorado Springs 61-38 on Friday night.

Saturday’s game was close throughout. WT took the lead for good when post CeCe Wooten made a layup, giving WT a 53-52 advantage with 2:20 to play.

The Lady Buffs defense held on the rest of the way, not allowing a field goal from Regis in the final 3:16 of the contest.

Wooten was one of three Lady Buffs in double figures with 12 points and four rebounds. Amarillo High graduate and WT sophomore Lexy Hightower had a game-high 15 points. Transfer Deleyah Harris had her second straight outstanding outing with 13 points and eight rebounds.

WT comes back to Canyon for the home opener on Thursday night when they host the University of Science and Arts at 5:30 p.m.

The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team used a career-high 40 points from senior David Chavlovich as they held on for a 92-88 win against Adams State on Friday night in the first game of the 2017 Al Kaly Shrine Classic on the campus of Colorado State University-Pueblo.
